CENTRAL HASTINGS OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL COLLISION

(BELLEVILLE ON) - The Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision.
On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, shortly after 9:30 am, emergency services responded to a collision on Highway 37 near Phillipston Road. Preliminary investigation indicates the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then left the roadway. The driver was subsequently ejected.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene and has been identified as a 30-year-old resident of Belleville.
A section of Highway 37 remained closed until approximately 4:20 pm while members of the OPP conducted their investigation. The investigation continues with assistance from the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team.
