COLLABORATIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT OPERATION TARGETS DANGEROUS DRIVING IN OTTAWA

(OTTAWA, ON) - A collaborative traffic enforcement operation involving the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Ottawa Police Service (OPS) resulted in dozens of charges being laid over the weekend as officers targeted dangerous driving behaviours on Ottawa-area roadways.
The two-day initiative took place during the evening hours of Friday, July 17, 2026, and Saturday, July 18, 2026, and involved OPP Aviation Services, Ottawa OPP Detachment members, Auxiliary members, OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team, OPP East Region Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), and OPS.
Through the coordinated enforcement initiative, officers laid a total of 63 charges, including:
- 11 stunt driving charges
- 35 speeding charges
- five driving while under suspension charges
- two no insurance charges
- 10 additional traffic-related charges
Some of the speeds recorded during the enforcement initiative included:
- 172 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone
- 186 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone
- 161 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone
- 186 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone
