CAMBRIDGE OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 401
(CAMBRIDGE, ON) - The Cambridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a collision on Highway 401 in Cambridge.
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, at approximately 12:30 pm, members of the Cambridge Detachment were dispatched to a collision involving nine motor vehicles in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Townline Road.
As a result of the collision, a 44-year-old male driver from Kitchener was taken to a trauma centre where he was later pronounced deceased.
All eastbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed at Townline Road for the investigation, while the OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) team assisted with the investigation. All lanes reopened around 10:41 pm on July 11, 2026.
