(ORILLIA, ON) -The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is pleased to invite members of the community to a free community barbecue hosted by participants of the L.E.A.P. Program (Leadership, Education, Activity and Partnership).

L.E.A.P. is a week-long youth leadership program organized by Orillia OPP summer students for local high school students. The program is designed to help youth develop leadership skills, gain a better understanding of themselves and their community, learn the importance of community involvement, and discover meaningful ways to give back while growing as future leaders.

Throughout the week, participants have taken part in a variety of educational and community-focused activities. Highlights have included a visit to the Heart Retreat Equestrian Healing Farm, volunteering at The Sharing Place Food Centre, and participating in several other activities aimed at promoting personal growth, community engagement, and positive youth development.

The community barbecue serves as a culmination of the week’s activities and provides participants with an opportunity to put their leadership and community-building skills into action by serving the public.
