(BLIND RIVER, ON)- A stolen pickup truck unexpectedly arrived at the OPP detachment parking lot after the driver informed police it had been stolen earlier that morning.

On Thursday, June 7, 2026, at approximately 8:20 am, members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an individual displaying unusual behaviour in the OPP parking lot on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.

While speaking with officers, the individual advised that the pickup truck they were operating had been stolen from a mine site in Copper Cliff within Greater Sudbury.

Police learned the vehicle had been taken from the business property at approximately 5:30 am that same morning. The vehicle had been left parked with the keys inside at the time it was taken.

As a result, the driver, Karl BINDER, 35 years old from Markstay-Warren was charged with:

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 13, 2026.
