(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) - A police investigation into allegations of animal abuse has led to one individual being charged with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

On June 27, 2026, at approximately 4:00 pm, officers responded to a complaint of a dog being abused. During the investigation, police received additional reports from members of the public regarding the same individual allegedly mistreating the dogs in a public area in Temiskaming Shores.

As a result of the investigation, Jason MERCIER-FARQUHAR, 43 years of age, of no fixed address, has been charged under the Criminal Code with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on September 22, 2026.

Both dogs were safely removed from the accused’s care and remain in the care of Animal Control pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
