Further Details on Fatal Collision
(CLAVET TOWNSHIP, ON) - The James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is providing additional details regarding a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 in Clavet Township, including information about the individuals involved, and the length of the roadway closure.
On June 8, 2026, at approximately 6:45 am, members of the James Bay OPP, Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Geraldton Fire Department responded to a collision involving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and a passenger vehicle on Highway 11 just west of the Pagwa River Bridge in Clavet Township.
A 54-year-old driver from Geraldton was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the passenger of the passenger vehicle was taken to hospital via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the CMV was treated at scene for minor injuries.
The OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team is assisting with this ongoing investigation. Highway 11 was closed between Hearst and Longlac for approximately 18 hours but has since reopened as of 12:30 am
