(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) - Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducting proactive patrols stopped a driver travelling at dangerously high speeds in Arran-Elderslie.

On Thursday, July 16th, at 8:46 am, a member of the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team was patrolling Grey-Bruce Line in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie when a vehicle was observed travelling at 163 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

The vehicle was stopped, and the driver, a 22-year-old from Kitchener, was charged with the following offences under the Highway Traffic Act:

  • Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt
  • Speeding 50+ km/h over posted limit

A 30 day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment were initiated, with the driver facing a future court date.
