TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO LARGE DRUG SEIZURE

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) - A traffic stop leads to large drug seizure in Kirkland Lake.
On Sunday June 14, 2026, at approximately 5:00 pm, the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol, and a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle in relation to a criminal investigation on Government Road West. The driver failed to identify was subsequently arrested for obstructing police.
A search of the driver and vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, hydromorphone pills, oxycodone and other suspected drugs, with an estimated street value of over $276,000. Additionally, $3,015 of Canadian currency and a replica handgun was seized.
As a result of the investigation, Chadeem BAILEY, a 36-year-old from North York, has been arrested and charged with:
- Obstruct peace officer
- Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court - three counts
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid other than heroin - three counts
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine - two counts
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Carrying concealed weapon
The accused remains in custody and is schedule to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on July 9, 2026.
