INDIVIDUAL FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES AFTER MULTIPLE ARSON

(HAWKESBURY, ON) - The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person following four arson investigations.
On Sunday, July 19, 2026, at approximately 8:30 am, OPP received reports of multiple arsons in Hawkesbury and the surrounding area.
As a result of the investigation, Eric DUBORD, age 37, of Alfred and Plantagenet Township, has been charged with the following offences:
- Arson - disregard for human life
- Arson - damage to property - three counts
- Possession incendiary material
- Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court - four counts
- Resist peace officer
- Dangerous operation
- Operation while prohibited
- Possession break in instrument
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance - cocaine
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Owner operate motor vehicle without insurance
- Drive while under suspension
- Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed
- Operate unsafe vehicle
- Drive motor vehicle - no licence
- Drive motor vehicle - no plate
- Improper muffler - motor vehicle
- Disobey stop sign - fail to stop - community safety zone
- Fail to signal for turn - community safety zone
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Monday, July 20, 2026, for a bail hearing.
