TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO MULTIPLE CHARGES

(Hawkesbury, ON) OPP officers from Hawkesbury Detachment conducted a traffic stop on John Street, in the town of Hawkesbury, following a violation of the Highway Traffic Act.
On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at approximately 1:15 am, during the investigation, the officers observed a large quantity of unmarked cigarettes.
As a result of the investigation, Joseph GRIGNON, 33 years old of Cornwall has been charged with the following offences:
- Trafficking in contraband tobacco
- Possess unmarked cigarettes for sale
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
- Unlawful purchase of cannabis
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
- Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed
- Driver - fail to properly wear seat belt
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
