(Hawkesbury, ON) - The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has multiple impaired driving related charges following two separate incidents.

On Thursday, July 2, 2026, shortly after 10:00 pm, officers stopped a vehicle at a RIDE checkpoint. During the investigation an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was used. The driver failed the test and was brought back to detachment for further testing

As a result of the investigation, Ian ST-CYR, 48 years old, of Rigaud, QC, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance - Methamphetamine

The motorist received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, shortly before 10:00 pm, officers responded to a traffic complaint on Cassburn Road in Champlain Township.

As a result of the investigation, Darwin Nelson DONNELLY, 26 years old, Of Champlain Township was charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code - two counts
  • Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
  • Assault a peace officer
  • Driving while under suspension - three counts
  • Being intoxicated in a public place
  • Driver - no helmet or improper helmet
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Litter highway
  • Unlawfully drive off-road vehicle on highway
  • Drive off-road vehicle - no number plate
  • Fail to have insurance card

The vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
