ONE INDIVIDUAL CHARGED FOLLOWING ANIMAL WELFARE WARRANT IN PICTON

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) - One individual is facing multiple charges following the execution of a warrant by Animal Welfare Services, with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
On June 23, 2026, shortly before 4:00 pm, members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the OPP were requested to assist Animal Welfare Services with the execution of a warrant at a residence in Picton. Warrants issued under the Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act may authorize entry to a property to locate and remove animals believed to be in distress.
Animal Welfare Services advised police there had been ongoing concerns regarding the treatment of a dog at the residence, including reports of physical abuse and failure to comply with previous orders.
Officers attended the residence alongside Animal Welfare Services. During the interaction, the individual allegedly assaulted a police officer and resisted arrest. Following a brief struggle, officers took the individual into custody. Police and Animal Welfare Services then entered the residence, where the dog was located.
As a result of the investigation, Jordan FENEMORE age 32 of Picton, has been charged with:
- Assault a Peace Officer (two counts)
- Resist Peace Officer
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton.
