RIDE PROGRAM LEADS TO CHARGES

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) - A Belleville resident is facing charges after being stopped at a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in Prince Edward County.
On Sunday, June 8, 2025, shortly before 3:00 am, officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 62 near the foot of the Bay Bridge. A car was stopped, and officers administered a roadside test with an approved alcohol screening device. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing, which showed levels near the legal limit.
The 46-year-old male was issued offence notices for:
- Novice driver with a blood-alcohol level above zero
- G1 licence holder unaccompanied be a qualified driver
- Having an obscured licence plate
The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for three days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
