(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON) - The Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from an individual who had just been robbed which has now led to the arrest of two people.

On Wednesday May 27, 2026, at approximately 9:00pm, the Peterborough County OPP received a call from an individual who was reporting that they had just been robbed and left at the side of the road. The caller advised that a ride had been arranged by an acquaintance to transport them back to their residence in Lennox and Addington County. A vehicle arrived containing three individuals unknown to the caller. The caller entered the vehicle and on their way through Peterborough County, the vehicle pulled off Lindsay Road near Fife’s Bay Road. The driver and one of the passengers each brandished a weapon telling the caller to get out and leave their belongings behind. The caller was then left at the side of the road as the vehicle drove away.

The Peterborough County Major Crime Unit (MCU) was engaged to facilitate the investigation. During their investigation, two of the three suspects were identified resulting in their arrest. A silver older model sport utility vehicle (SUV) was identified as the vehicle involved in the robbery.

On Thursday May 28, 2026, a youth was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with violence

The accused is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a future date.

On Monday June 2, 2026, the second accused, a 26-year-old male was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with violence
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused was held for Bail.

Due to the age of the accused, their names will not be released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
