(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON) - Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were dispatched to a report of a serious two vehicle collision that closed Tara Road.
Just prior to 4:00pm on Friday June 26, 2026, the Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews were notified of a collision that had taken place on Tara Road north of Ennis Road in Selwyn Township.
Officers, EMS and Fire all arrived on scene to find one motor vehicle, a pickup truck, just off the roadway on the shoulder with significant front-end damage. The second vehicle, an SUV was further off the roadway, and it had come to rest on its side. Witnesses advised the pickup was travelling southbound when the northbound SUV attempted to make a turn, which resulted in the collision.
Both the driver and the passenger of the SUV were transported to a local hospital with one of them later being airlifted to a Toronto area trauma hospital. The occupants of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries and were all treated.
Tara Road remained closed for several hours while first responders dealt with the collision scene and officers trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.
