THREE INDIVIDUALS CHARGED FOLLOWING VEHICLE FLIGHT AND FIREARM INVESTIGATION

(CHATSWORTH, ON) - The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three individuals following an investigation involving a vehicle that fled from police and a subsequent arrest.
On May 19, 2026, at approximately 1:00 am, Grey Bruce OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program at the intersection of 10th Concession and Grey Road 18 in the Municipality of Meaford.
A vehicle entered the RIDE program, and officers determined the driver was in breach of current court-imposed conditions. As officers attempted to arrest the individual, the driver fled the scene in the vehicle.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, Grey Bruce Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) became involved, and on June 4, 2026, members of the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) unit, OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), West Region OPP Canine Unit, and OPP Aviation Unit attended a residence on Grey-Bruce Line in the Township of Chatsworth.
The suspect attempted to flee the residence in a stolen motor vehicle, which subsequently struck a police cruiser. Two officers sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. The individual then fled on foot but was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit. Two additional individuals were arrested inside the stolen vehicle.
During the investigation, police seized a.22 calibre bolt-action rifle.
As a result, the following individuals have been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada (CC):
Kurtis MILLER, 24-year-old of Owen Sound, is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Assault a peace officer with a weapon (two counts)
- Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order
- Fail to comply with a release order other than to attend court (two counts)
Joshua KENNY, 36-year-old of South Bruce Peninsula, is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
An 18-year-old of Kincardine, is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
All accused parties were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
Since that time:
- The 18-year-old and Joshua Kenny have been released on court-ordered conditions
- Kurtis Miller has been remanded into custody
The Grey Bruce OPP continue to investigate.
