DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION FOLLOWING COLLISION

(TRENT HILLS, ON) - Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual following a single-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
On July 18, 2026, shortly after 6:00 pm, police responded to a report of a collision on Centennial Lane involving a pickup truck that had struck a tree.
When officers arrived, there were no occupants in the vehicle. Through further investigation, officers learned the driver had gone to a nearby waterfront area and left the vicinity on a personal watercraft. Police later located the individual after receiving reports of a pedestrian yelling at members of the public on another roadway.
Emergency Medical Services attended the scene as a precaution. No serious injuries were reported.
After speaking with the individual, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation, resulting in the driver being arrested and taken into custody.
Jacob FOSTER (25) from Peterborough, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) - two counts
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs - two counts
- Dangerous operation
- Fail to report damage to property on highway
- Fail to remain
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September 2026.
In addition, a 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were imposed.
