-UPDATE # 1- OPP INVESTIGATING SERIOUS COLLISION IN CARMAHE
Charges Laid
(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - An individual is facing charges in connection with a serious collision in the Township of Cramahe.
On Saturday, April 4, 2026, at approximately 3:15 am, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Cramahe Fire Department and Northumberland Paramedics responded to a report of an individual in a ditch off Huycke Road. A heavily damaged all-terrain vehicle (ATV) was located nearby. The individual was transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to another medical centre with life‑threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, the driver of a second vehicle believed to be involved in a collision with the ATV was identified.
Joseph HUYCKE, 33 years old of the Township of Cramahe, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Dangerous operation causing bodily harm, section 320.13(2)
- Failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm, section 320.16(2)
- Obstructing a peace officer, section 129(a)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
