DRIVER FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES FOLLOWING COLLISION

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a motorist following a number of complaints from the public.
On July 12, 2026, at approximately 6:30 pm, police received a report from a neighbouring police service regarding a light blue passenger vehicle that failed to stop for police and was last reported travelling eastbound on Highway 401 from Port Hope.
Shortly thereafter, the OPP received several complaints from members of the public regarding the manner of driving of a similarly described vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 401.
At approximately 6:40 pm, police and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 eastbound in the Township of Cramahe.
Both occupants of one of the involved vehicles fled the scene on foot into a nearby wooded area.
The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) was dispatched to assist with the investigation. Both individuals were subsequently located, and the driver was taken into custody.
The injuries sustained as a result of the collision can be described as non-life-threatening.
The individual was transported to a local OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result, Tyler LAZURE (42) from, has been charged with:
- Flight from peace officer
- Dangerous operation
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Fail to remain
- Driving while under suspension
The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in August.
In addition, a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were imposed.
