OPP CHARGE TWO IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS IN NORTHUMBERLAND

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals in separate recent incidents.
Shoplifting
On June 7, 2026, shortly before 12:30 am, police received a report of a theft from a business on Elizabeth Street in Brighton. The caller reported that an individual had stolen approximately $70 worth of items before leaving in a vehicle. Officers were provided with a description to assist in the investigation.
Later that same day, at approximately 10:30 pm, police responded to a similar complaint at the same location, where the same individual had stolen liquor.
On June 10, 2026, the individual was arrested on an outstanding warrant by a neighboring police service and subsequently transferred into OPP custody.
Leena CANFYN-CRAWFORD (28) from Brighton has been charged with:
- Theft under $5,000 - shoplifting - two counts
- Failure to attend court after having appeared
The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.
Motor Vehicle Collision / Impaired Driving
On June 10, 2026, shortly after 2:00 am, members of the Northumberland OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Spring Street in the Township of Cramahe.
Officers determined that a passenger vehicle had collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle. No serious injuries were reported.
Following an interaction with the driver, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation, which resulted in the motorist being taken into custody.
Patrisha GEERTS (32) from Roseneath has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in July.
In addition, a 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound were issued.
