CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON - Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid multiple impaired driving charges between June 21 and June 23, 2026.

On June 23, 2026, at approximately 5:56 pm, officers conducted a traffic stop on Glenarm Road. Through investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Liam NICOLSON, 28-year-old of Kirkfield, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Unsafe move - lane or shoulder
  • Speeding - 104 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone

On June 22, 2026, at approximately 3:30 pm, officers responded to a traffic complaint on Frank Hill Road. Officers located the vehicle of concern and, through investigation, the driver was arrested and charged.

Derek HADDLESEY, 35-year-old, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Dangerous operation
  • Take motor vehicle without consent

On June 21, 2026, at approximately 12:43 am, officers responded to a dispute at a residence on Monck Road. Through investigation, a driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Terry NICHOLSON, 54-year-old of Kirkfield, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

All accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. All drivers received an immediate 90-day driver’s licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment.
