(Fort Frances, ON) - Switching drivers in the McDonald’s parking lot landed both operators in custody for impaired operation.
On July 4, 2026, at approximately 12:30 am, an officer with the Fort Frances Detachment Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a driver with unsteady gait enter the McDonald’s Restaurant in Fort Frances. A second occupant in the vehicle then took over control when the original driver came out. A traffic stop was conducted, and both drivers failed a roadside screening device. Both drivers were arrested and transported to the Fort Frances Detachment where additional breath testing was completed by demand.
Carver YATCHUK, 23-years-old and Kaymen BRENNA 24-years-old, both from Fort Frances are both charged with operation while impaired alcohol and drug, operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, novice driver B.A.C. above zero, and drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor. Both drivers had their licences suspended for 90 days and the involved vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Both drivers were released by police and have court on August 13, 2026, in Fort Frances to speak to the charges.
