(Fort Frances, ON) - The theft of a wallet from a vehicle and the subsequent spending spree with stolen cards landed two offenders back in jail.

On July 6, 2026, the Fort Frances Detachment Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint that a wallet was stolen from a vehicle, and the owner’s cards were being used at various businesses around Fort Frances.

Officers obtained security footage from the involved businesses and identified two offenders. Both offenders were well known to police, and both were out on bail for prior property crime offences. One offender was located and arrested that same day. The other offender was located and arrested on July 8, 2026.

Colton LENGYEL, 23-years-old from Devlin ON is charged criminally with two counts of fraud under $5000, and one count each of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, use of credit card, and failing to comply with a release order other than to attend court. The accused was held by police for a bail hearing and is to appear next in Fort Frances Court on July 10, 2026.

Austin FOWLER, 26-years-old from Fort Frances is charged criminally with one count each of fraud under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, use of credit card, and failing to comply with a release order other than to attend court. The accused was held by police and has a bail hearing in Fort Frances on July 9, 2026.
