RENFREW OPP ARREST PERSON AFTER DOMESTIC DISPUTE

(COBDEN, ON) - The Renfrew detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following an investigation of a domestic dispute.
On June 19, 2026, shortly after 8:00 pm, officers responded to a report of a dispute involving two individuals in the village of Cobden.
As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old from Chapeau has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Assault with a weapon
- Assault
- Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Forcible confinement
- Dangerous operation
- Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order - two counts
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
The accused was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
