SHELTER-IN-PLACE IN EFFECT IN WEST LORNE

(WEST LORNE, ON) - Members of the Elgin County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are responding to a reported disturbance involving a potentially armed individual in the community of West Lorne.
OPP is asking residents in the immediate area of Walker St. and Mary St. to shelter-in-place and adhere to the following safety precautions:
- If you are outside, seek shelter immediately in a secure location
- If you are inside, lock all doors and windows, and close curtains or blinds to avoid drawing attention
- Do not approach or engage with the suspect. Call 911 immediately if you see or encounter him
- If you are driving, proceed directly to your destination and seek shelter indoors. Do not pick up hitchhikers
- Follow any instructions provided by officers at the scene
Individuals not currently in the affected area are requested to avoid travelling there until further notice. An increased police presence can be expected while officers continue their response and investigation.
