DRIVER AND MINDEMOYA-BASED COMPANY FACING CHARGES FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) - A driver and a Mindemoya-based commercial company are facing charges following a traffic stop involving an insecure load.
On Friday, June 5, 2026, at approximately 5:15 pm, a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E) Team was conducting patrol on Highway 6 near Little Current. During the patrol, the officer observed a pickup truck towing a trailer with a skid steer that had no visible straps.
A traffic stop was initiated on Meredith Street East in Little Current. The officer conducted a Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Level I inspection, which revealed several safety concerns including an insecure load, trailer exceeding registered gross weight, and improper class of driver’s licence.
As a result, the 53-year-old driver from Mindemoya was charged with Insecure Load.
In addition, the Mindemoya-based commercial company was charged with:
- Overweight vehicle - violate permit
- Permit operation of vehicle - fail to display inspection
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle
- Permit person with improper licence to drive motor vehicle
- Draw trailer - no permit
