DRIVER ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED AND RESIST PEACE OFFICER FOLLOWING TRAFFIC COMPLAINT

(ESPANOLA, ON) - A driver is facing charges following a traffic complaint on Highway 17 in the Nairn-Hyman Township.
On Friday, June 26, 2026, at approximately 5:00 pm, the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint reporting a vehicle swerving through traffic and passing unsafely. Officers located the vehicle on Highway 17 in the Nairn-Hyman Township and conducted a traffic stop. As a result of further investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.
In addition, police seized suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $795.
The driver, Stephanie DALE, 33-years-old from Sudbury, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Dangerous operation
- Resist Peace Officer
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Possession of a Schedule I substance - cocaine
- Fail to surrender insurance card
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
