Shelter-in-place lifted
(M’CHIGEENG, ON) - The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and United Chiefs & Councils of Manitoulin (UCCM) Anishnaabe Police Service are advising members of the public in M’Chigeeng First Nation that a shelter-in-place has now been lifted.
On Friday, July 10th, 2026, a shelter-in-place advisory was put into effect at approximately 9:00 am, in response to an incident involving a potentially armed individual in the area of Mnaawnkwad Drive and Riverside Drive.
At approximately 5:30 pm, the situation was resolved without incident however the investigation continues. No further information will be released at this time.
