Wanted Individual Arrested
(ESPANOLA, ON) - The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested a wanted individual in connection with an incident that resulted in serious injuries in Sagamok Anishinawbek First Nation.
On Thursday, March 26, 2026, at approximately 3:45 pm, officers with the Anishinabek Police Service (APS) responded to a call in Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation. Upon arrival, officers located an individual with life-threatening injuries who was transported to hospital. One person was charged in relation to this investigation.
On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, members of the Manitoulin OPP and APS located and arrested an individual wanted in relation to this investigation following a reported sighting.
As a result, Anthony ESHKAKOGAN, 32 years old from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, was charged with aggravated assault, contrary to section 268 of the Criminal Code.
The accused remains in custody and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Friday, June 12, 2026.
