Hamilton Police Seeking Public's Assistance to Locate Suspect Following Multiple Downtown Stabbings

Hamilton Police are investigating multiple stabbing incidents that occurred in the downtown core this afternoon and are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect.
Police responded to several reports of stabbings beginning shortly after 2:10 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The incidents occurred in the areas of King Street and James and the MacNab Street Transit Terminal.
Four individuals sustained injuries and were transported to hospital. At this time, all injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
As a result of the investigation, Hamilton Police have identified Oscar Ayala, of no fixed address, as the suspect. Investigators have reasonable and probable grounds to arrest Ayala for the following offences:
- Assault with a Weapon (four counts)
Investigators are also asking anyone who witnessed any of the incidents, or who has dash camera or surveillance footage from the downtown core between 2:00 pm and 2:30 pm, to contact police.
