Two Arrested in Commercial Arson Investigations

Hamilton Police have arrested two men in connection with separate arson investigations at commercial properties in Binbrook and lower Stoney Creek.
On May 1, 2026, police responded to a suspicious fire at a commercial property in the Binbrook area. No injuries were reported, and the suspect fled before police arrived.
On June 3, 2026, police responded to a second suspicious fire at a commercial property in lower Stoney Creek.
Through the course of the investigations, and with assistance from the public, police identified and arrested 49-year-old Roberto DiPietro of Hamilton and 33-year-old Emir Ayala of Hamilton.
Roberto DiPietro has been charged with:
- Arson – Damage to Property
- Possession of Incendiary Material
- Fail to Comply with Probation
Emir Ayala has been charged with:
- Arson – Damage to Property
- Arson – Disregard for Human Life
- Possession of Incendiary Material
