Stolen Auto, Loaded Firearm Recovered After West Mountain Arrest

Hamilton Police have arrested a 28-year-old Mississauga man after officers responding to a suspicious vehicle call located a stolen vehicle and recovered a loaded firearm on Hamilton’s west mountain.
On Sunday, June 7, 2026, at approximately 3:16 am, Hamilton Police responded to the area of Elodia Court after a witness reported a suspicious vehicle that had stopped in the neighbourhood. Officers arrived a short time later and located a grey Honda parked on Elodia Court with its lights off. The vehicle was confirmed to be a stolen auto on file with Peel Regional Police. As officers attempted to investigate, the driver rammed a police cruiser and attempted to flee. The vehicle continued along Elodia Court and struck a second police cruiser, rendering both cruisers inoperable. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers pursued him and arrested him a short distance away. He continued to resist police after being taken into custody and refused to identify himself.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded Glock handgun on the front passenger seat. The accused has been identified as 28-year-old Sammy Shaik of Mississauga. He has been charged with:
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm
- Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle
- Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – Stolen Auto
