DRUG TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION LEADS TO CHARGES

(KENORA, ON) - Three individuals are facing Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) charges following a drug trafficking investigation in Kenora.
In the spring of 2026, members of the Kenora OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of the Kenora OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) commenced a drug trafficking investigation in the city of Kenora.
On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at approximately 3:30 pm CDT, officers successfully arrested and charged three individuals as a result of this investigation.
Rosalyn READ, 53 years old of Kenora was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code and Controlled drugs and Substances Act offences:
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
- Traffick in schedule I substance - fentanyl
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl
Veronica COPENACE, 32 years old of Washagamis Bay First Nation was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code and Controlled drugs and Substances Act offences:
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - hydromorphone
The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.
Kalvin PIERCE, 31 years old of Rat Portage First Nation was arrested and charged with the following Controlled drugs and Substances Act offences:
- Possession of a schedule I substance - opioid (other than heroin)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on Friday, July 13, 2026.
