(QUINTE WEST, ON) - The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.

On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at approximately 8:00 pm, a traffic complaint at North Beach Provincial Park, led Quinte West OPP to suspect a motorist may have been under the influence of alcohol.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment for testing where charges were laid under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA).

Shabir NOORZAI, age 30, from Brampton, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 30, 2026. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence suspended for 90 days.
