MOTORIST CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

(QUINTE WEST, ON) - The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.
On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at approximately 10:00 pm, a traffic stop on Queen Street, Trenton, led Quinte West OPP to suspect a motorist may have been under the influence of alcohol.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment where charges were laid under the Criminal Code (CC), the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and the Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA).
Joshua REE, age 40, from Tyendinaga, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Dangerous operation
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Driving while under suspension
- Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 20, 2026. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence suspended for 90 days.
