(QUINTE WEST, ON) - The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, at approximately 8:00 am, on Orchard Lane, Quinte West, a traffic complaint led Quinte West OPP to suspect a motorist may have been impaired.

As a result of the investigation, charges were laid under the Criminal Code (CC), the Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), the Cannabis Control Act (CCA) and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

Scott COMEAU, age 36, from Consecon, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance - Methamphetamine
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Alter plate

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 21, 2026. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence suspended for 90 days.
