MOTORIST CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

(QUINTE WEST, ON) - The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.
On Monday, June 8, 2026, at approximately 10:50 pm, officers were conducting a RIDE program on Dundas Street West, Quinte West, resulting in the arrest of a driver for being impaired.
As a result of the investigation, charges were laid under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Cannabis Control Act (CCA).
Robert CRONIN, age 68, from Trenton, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 30, 2026. Additionally, the vehicle they were operating was impounded for seven days, and their licence suspended for 90 days.
