1 District Detectives Investigating St Catharines Shooting

On Thursday, July 16, 2026, at approximately 7:15 AM, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers responded to a plaza in the area of Bunting Road and Carlton Street in the City of St. Catharines for a shooting that just occurred.
Responding officers located a 39-year-old male with a gunshot wound and serious injuries. The male was transported to an out-of-region hospital by Niagara Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) with what was later determined to be non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.
The 1 District Detective’s office has taken carriage of the investigation. There is no risk to public safety. Detectives are appealing to the public for any information regarding this incident. Residents and businesses in the area of Bunting Road and Carlton Street are asked to review any video surveillance footage and contact police if anything suspicious is observed.
