St Catharines Male Arrested in Sexual Assault Investigation

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers responded to a sexual assault call for service in the City of St Catharines.
The Child Abuse Unit (CAU) took carriage of the investigation and subsequently identified a suspect. On Thursday, July 9, 2026, 23-year-old Michael SILVESTER-PROULX of St Catharines was arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Interference
- Expose Genitals to a Person Under 16 Years of Age
- Assault
- Fail to Comply with Probation
SILVESTER-PROULX remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St Catharines.
