Original Media Release:

On Monday, April 27, 2026, at approximately 9:10 pm, uniformed officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 3 District (Welland/Pelham) responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle collision on Hwy 20 west of Maple Street in the town of Pelham.

Officers arrived on scene along with Niagara Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) and Pelham Fire Services to find a minivan involved in a collision with a motorcycle. Investigation determined that the minivan, a blue, 2008, Town and Country, was travelling westbound along Hwy 20 and attempted to turn left into a driveway. Two motorcycles, a red, 2003 Honda and a black, 2009, Kawasaki, were travelling eastbound and the red motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the minivan. As result of the Honda colliding with the minivan the rider of the black motorcycle lost control and slid to the ground.

Sadly, the rider of the red motorcycle, a 30-year-old Port Colborne man, died on scene of injuries sustained. The rider of the black motorcycle, a 27-year-old West Lincoln woman, sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the minivan, a 19-year-old Port Colborne man, and a 21-year-old female passenger were uninjured and remained on scene.

The road was shut down over night for the investigation which was taken over by the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) along with assistance from the Forensic Services Unit (FSU).
