A GOOD SAMARITAN REPORTS A TRAFFIC COMPLAINT

(DILL TOWNSHIP, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one person with impaired driving after responding to a traffic complaint.
On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at approximately 8:20 pm, members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the OPP, received a report from the public about a possible impaired driver on Highway 69, Dill Township, south of Sudbury.
The vehicle was located and the driver, Harold SCHMIDT, 53 years old, from Timmins was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 22, 2026, in Sudbury.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
