(COX TOWNSHIP, ON) - A Sudbury driver is facing stunt driving charges after being stopped for travelling more than double the posted speed limit on Highway 69.

On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at approximately 3:00 pm, a member of the North East Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) Team of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle travelling at 163 kilometres per hour in a posted 80 km/h construction zone.

As a result of the investigation, a 53-year-old driver from Sudbury has been charged with Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Offences Court, on September 1, 2026, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 30 day Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
