(FRENCH RIVER, ON) - The decease has been identified as a 23-year-old person from
Barrie from the single motor vehicle collision on Highway 69.
On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at approximately 8:00 am, members of the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle, which was travelling north bound on Highway 69, French River.
One passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the driver and a second passenger were transported to the area hospital with serious but non- life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed in both direction for just under nine hours.
The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the OPP Technical Collision Investigation and Reconstruction teams to determine the cause of the collision.
