(BLUEWATER, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Bluewater resident with criminal driving offences following a complaint from a concerned citizen at the Village of Bayfield harbor, in the Municipality of Bluewater.

Just before 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 13, 2026, Huron County OPP officers received information from a concerned citizen that an individual operating a vessel may be impaired. Officers attended the boat launch area on Fishermen’s Wharf Road and located the individual, who was subsequently arrested for impaired operation of a vessel and motor vehicle.

The accused was transported to the Huron County OPP detachment in Clinton for breath tests conducted by a qualified OPP Intoxilyzer technician. Those tests resulted in readings over the legal limit.

James McCANN, 55 years-of-age from Bluewater has been charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and drugs - (two counts), - Operation while Impaired - BAC (80 plus) - (two counts)

The accused driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich on July 27, 2026.
