ASSAULT IN TILLSONBURG RESULTS IN INJURIES AND CHARGES

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) - The Oxford Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an incident in Tillsonburg that resulted in one individual sustaining life-threatening injuries.
On July 11, 2026, at approximately 4:45 pm, Oxford OPP officers, along with fire and emergency medical services, responded to a report of an assault in the area of Prospect Street.
An individual was transported to hospital with serious injuries and remains in critical condition.
During the response, emergency services were also called to a structure fire on Prospect Street. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
An increased police presence was maintained in the area while Oxford OPP members, assisted by the West Region Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and Oxford County Crime Unit, continued to investigate.
A 41-year-old Tillsonburg resident was subsequently arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Aggravated Assault
- Arson
The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
