SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH RESULTS IN MULTIPLE CHARGES

(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD, ON) - Two individuals are facing charges after a crash in South-West Oxford Township.
On Saturday July 4, 2026, at approximately 10:00 pm, members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to the report of a crash near the intersection of Glenn Avenue and Millard Street in Sweaburg.
Prior to police arrival the occupants fled the scene on foot.
With the assistance from the West Region Emergency Response Team, including Canine and members from Woodstock Police Service, Oxford OPP was able to locate the individuals.
As a result of the investigation a 25-year-old resident of South-West Oxford has been charged with the following charges:
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Prohibited (two counts)
- Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
- Fail to Report an Accident
- Drive Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
- Drive While Under Suspension (two counts)
The accused has been remanded into custody, pending a future appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice, In Woodstock.
A 17-year-old resident of the County of Middlesex has also been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident. The individual has been released from custody.
