(NORWICH) - A driver is facing seven charges after being involved in a two-vehicle collision in Norwich Township.

On July 18, 2026, at approximately 4:50 pm, members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of two passenger vehicles that collided at the intersection of Airport Road and Pick Line.

One of the vehicle drivers fled on foot and was later apprehended by members of Oxford OPP and West Region Canine. The other driver remained at the scene.

The driver who fled on foot reported minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The other driver did not report any injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Owen BRIGGS a 21-year-old resident of Harley was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Failure to Stop After Accident
  • Flight From Peace Officer
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Resist Peace Officer

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice, in Woodstock, on September 15, 2026.
