DRIVER CHARGED FOLLOWING SINGLE MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) - An individual is facing charges following a single motor vehicle collision investigation in Haldimand County.
On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at approximately 8:00 pm, members from the Haldimand County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Concession 2 Walpole, Selkirk.
The investigation determined the driver of the motor vehicle fled the scene on foot. Police quickly located the individual and they were taken into custody.
The collision did require road closures for several hours but have since reopened.
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old from Selkirk, was arrested and has been charged with the following Highway Traffic Act offences:
- Fail to remain
- Careless driving
- Fail to notify change of address
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on October 2, 2026.
