DRIVER CHARGED FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP IN BRANT COUNTY

(BRANT, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment has arrested and charged a driver following a traffic stop in Brant County.
On July 3, 2026, at approximately 1:30 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop at Brant County Road 18 near Colborne Street East in the County of Brant. Through investigation, it was determined that the driver had a suspended driver’s licence and was using licence plates not authorized for the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old driver from Halton has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Driving while under suspension
- Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle
The OPP is reminding all motorists that anyone operating a motor vehicle on a highway must hold a valid driver’s licence, and the vehicle must be properly insured. Drivers are also cautioned that using licence plates not authorized for a vehicle is an arrestable offence under the Highway Traffic Act.
The driver was released from custody and issued two Part III Summonses. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on August 18, 2026.
